Flowrate correction for the determination of isotherms and Darken thermodynamic factors from Zero Length Column (ZLC) experiments
The ZLC technique can be used for rapid screening of novel materials using very small sample quantities (less than 10 mg). The paper demonstrates the feasibility of using only a concentration detector, removing the need for flowrate measurement and showing that an accurate instrument can be developed with reduced complexity and cost. The modelling approach is being incorporated into the data acquisition system for the four ZLC systems in the Carbon Capture Laboratories supporting £3M+ of EPSRC funded research (EP/J019720/1; EP/J02077X/1; EP/I01939/1). Further collaboration with US company Quantachrome (Matthias Thommes (email available)) is developing a commercial version of the ZLC.
