Additional information

This paper describes the development of a unique machine in collaboration with and fully funded by Michelin France (£200k, Jean-Baptiste Fourrel-de-Frettes), that enables expensive vehicle-based tyre tests to be replicated by small-scale lab tests. This has allowed rapid industrial development of new tread designs and compounds; it led to an invited visit and initiated a further collaboration with Michelin Japan (£200k, Stephane Hebert).
