Additional information

This paper presented a new approach to compressing gases to pressures in excess of 100 kbar and also paved the way for using gases as highly hydrostatic pressure media (DoI:10.1063/1.3606643). This work attracted substantial interest resulting in Kamenev been invited to present it at a plenary talk of the 49th European High Pressure Research Group conference (Budapest, 2011) and to organise a microsymposium at the 27th European Crystallographic Meeting (Bergen, 2012). The system has been used in several experiments at the ISIS neutron facility (oleg.kirichek@stfc.ac.uk, Head of Sample Environment Group) who funded, in 2012, further work.
