Additional information

This paper is based on research that adopts an original methodological approach in that it combines socio-graphs and in-depth interviews (n=75) with teenage students. The findings of this paper are significant as they highlight the crucial way in which class inequalities shape the social networks of young people. This study is the first one in the UK to explore this issue drawing on a non-adult population and serves well in providing empirical evidence of the complex yet important influence that class exerts on young people’s attitudes and in turn on their social lives.
