Elemental Germans. Klaus Fuchs, Rudolf Peierls and the Making of British Nuclear Culture, 1939-1959

The decision to double-weight this research monograph was based on two chief assessment criteria. Firstly, this book offers the first broader conceptualization of ‘nuclear culture’ within the context of Britain and beyond. Thus, it provides ‘The generation of a particularly extensive or complex concept or thesis’. Secondly, the monograph is based on ‘The collection and analysis of a considerable body of material’ from archives in Britain, Germany, the United States and Russia, including a wealth of foreign language sources and recently made available archival files.
