Additional information

The stator torsional vibration of permanent magnet brushless AC and DC drives is significantly reduced by the proposed novel direct torque control schemes for the first time. A new method to measure the torsional vibration mechanical transfer function by utilizing cogging torque for excitation is also reported. This world-leading research outcome has attracted the attention of Siemens Wind Power. Professor Zhu was subsequently invited to deliver a presentation on 1 Feb. 2011 and to host a one-day workshop in June, 2011. It leads to a joint UK Regional Growth Fund project with Siemens, £1,087,752 (50% funded by Siemens), 2012-2014.
