Additional information

This proposes for the first time a number of novel tubular flux-switching permanent magnet (PM) machine topologies for a variety of applications. The relative merits of the proposed machine topologies are analysed and compared to conventional tubular PM machines and design features that are unique to tubular configurations are exploited. It was selected as a keynote presentation at IEEE Intermag 2008 conference in Madrid, Spain. The work stimulated extensive research of this type of linear machines, particularly in renewable wave power generation (Robert Nilssen, robert.nilssen@elkraft.ntnu.no, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and contributed to the award of EPSRC project (EP/H009825/1).
