Additional information

The research was part of a portfolio of funded work (EPSRC EP/H020764, £630k) on a mobile energy harvesting system which provided the first design mechanism of “pizzicato excitation” for the generation of electricity from human walking, allowing piezo-harvesters efficiently to work at lower frequency than previously possible (1-10Hz) and wider bandwidth (non-resonant). This paper was selected for the “Highlights of 2011” collection in the Journal.
