Additional information

This work produced a new technique to tackle shortcomings in helicopter condition monitoring. It provided an integrated approach to the modelling and experimental validation of cause and effect in gear cracking. It came from a partnership funded by the MoD, QinetiQ and EPSRC, total ca £420k. A related conference publication won the award for the best paper published in the Proceedings of the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) Condition Monitoring Conference (CM2011/MFPT2011). The work was performed jointly between Warwick University (FE simulation k.mao@warwick.ac.uk), Manchester University (signal processing j.sinha@manchester.ac.uk), and Cranfield (experimental work).
