Additional information

This paper shows for the first time that the combination of linear and non-linear analysis of the electrical activity of the brain improves the diagnostic accuracy of each individual technique and paves the way to the characterisation of brain dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease with a combination of different approaches rather than with individual techniques. Furthermore, it reinforces the concept that more information about the brain activity can be obtained when different time scales are inspected.
