Additional information

This was one of the first papers to outline a basis for including water in Life Cycle Assessment, and it brings important aspects to the debate which have been neglected, such as what we termed the “land use effects on freshwater”. The publication of the paper was timely and it has contributed to the debate in LCA about how to include water. It is referred to in the main reviews published on this topic, eg. UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative project (Bayart et al, 2009, “A framework for assessing off-stream freshwater use in LCA”, Int. Jour. Life Cycle Asssess., 15(5), 439-453).
