Developing a Knowledge-based System for Complex Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) Data Manipulation.
<17>The greater the number of “features” extracted from data, the greater the challenge of storing, retrieving, managing and understanding them. This demands an enhanced ability to “visualise” data. This research has contributed a ground-breaking methodology to turn Category Theory concepts into programming functions and classes. The authors devised methods for overcoming the operational rigidity of traditional tools for data management. The developed software “virtualGPS” for bridging the gap between International Standards and their practical implementations has been successfully trialled in a leading precision engineering company - Taylor Hobson - in UK.
