<20>This paper at a top conference (CHI 2012, 23% acceptance) is original in its reflection on the role of the researcher in the context of evaluating novel prototypes. It is centred around a comparative study of two specific technology interventions, but is clearly of value for the wider HCI community, where Thieme (CHI, 2013) uses the model in the context of technology research with vulnerable women with mental health problems, Bartindale (C&C 2013) in the context of TV studio production flows and Adams (ACM TOCIH 2013) as part of her model of the researcher as a boundary creature.
