Additional information

Different strains of bacteria in pure cultures provided biological models to study how genetic diversity affected mechanisms of cell attachment to different solid surfaces. A unique result was the wide range of attachment behaviour shown. This research led to further collaboration (with experts in molecular modelling of biomineral interfaces), resulting in the award of an EPSRC Programme Grant on Hard-Soft Interfaces and an EPSRC Feasibility Account.
