This paper describes science that could only be performed at a major new international research facility (the world’s first X-ray free electron laser) which necessitated a large research team coming together with different expertise. The author’s contribution was in the preparation and execution of the experiment, especially in aspects of the molecular alignment where he has particular expertise. The author also played an important role in the preparation and editing of the manuscript for publication.
