Novel lossless fMRI image compression based on motion compensation and customized entropy coding
<26> This paper in IEEE TITB, which publishes high-quality global IT advances in medicine/biology, presents a novel coding method for fMRI data using 4-D motion compensation that outperforms JPEG2000-based coding and H.264/AVC by 10%. The conference version of this paper was a Best Paper finalist at ICIP 2008. Significantly, this research is being used by Nguyen (NU Singapore) for the visualisation of large medical volume data, by Knezovic (Zagreb) for efficient compression of medical image data, and by Chan (Hong Kong Poly) as the foundation for the design of H.264/AVC-based coding techniques for 12-bit CT images.
