Thermo-mechanical properties of polystyrene-based shape memory nanocomposites
After publication, we were invited to publish a book of “Polyurethane Shape Memory Polymer” in 2011 by CRC publisher, and were further invited to publish a review paper in journal of Advanced Drug Delivery Review in 2013. Based on this work, a patent on SMP micro-bondage was issued, and one local company, Touch Bionics, Livingston, was keen to push it into commercial market. Co-author, Prof. Huang mwmhuang@ntu.edu.sg has now a start-up company in China to develop and commercialise the innovation ideas. Several funding have been obtained afterwards, including Royal Academy of Engineering UK (~12.5K), Royal Society of Edinburgh (~6K).
