Real-time monitoring of covercrete response to environmental action
The research developed a unique remote interrogation system and testing protocols allowing real-time monitoring of concrete performance exposed to natural environments. The work has resulted in a patent [http://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2011048378&recNum=1&maxRec=&office=&prevFilter=&sortOption=&queryString=&tab=PCT+Biblio]. The system is currently being sold under license by Amphora NDT Ltd (www.amphorandt.com). A direct consequence of the work was a keynote paper presented at the 3rd International Conference on the Durability of Concrete Structures, Belfast, Sept 2012 (http://www.qub.ac.uk/sites/ICDCS2012/FileStore/Filetoupload,343060,en.pdf ; See page KN5/1).
