Geographies of the Romantic North: Science, Antiquarianism, and Travel, 1790–1830 (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) was published as the result of three years’ full-time research and writing funded by Marie Curie COFUND/Irish Research Council, and with the support of St John’s College Cambridge, National University of Ireland Maynooth, and University of Toronto (2010-13). The book presents my pioneering and original research in the areas of the histories of science, exploration and empire, in archives in the UK, Canada, Sweden, and Ireland.
