Additional information

Paper is based on research undertaken within EU FP7 project SAFEGUARD (SCP7-GA-2009-218493), which resulted in the world’s first response time data-set for passengers on cruise ships to be used to enhance current international ship evacuation analysis guidelines (MSC Circ 1238). The results of this work were identified as important to the shaping of the improved guidelines by the Fire Protection (FP) Subcommittee of IMO MSC as reported in the summary of FP55 (http://bit.ly/1hNYAyK). The results were presented to FP56 by the Canadian government in paper FP56/INF.12 (http://bit.ly/1hO6Gr4 see pages 16-18) and discussion concerning their adoption will continue in FP57.
