The research underpinning this paper has been on-going for over 10 years, and has contributed to the development of the commercial product, Sybase IQ, and some associated data quality toolsets. The research reported here focused on qualitative reasoning over the data contained in large-scale data warehouses. This paper is important in that it challenges the accepted norm in Information Quality, which does not determine the quality of the underlying data.
