Additive Manufactured Textiles for High-Performance Stab Resistant Applications
This output reported on the first research investigating the design and manufacture of stab resistant textile structures manufactured using Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques. The paper establishes, through an extended series of stab-tests using impact-testing equipment, the stab-resistant characteristics of Laser Sintered polyamide. This extended experimental series provided the key data required for the design and development of stab-resistant AM textiles that successfully attained the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB) level one UK standard. The research was initially funded internally by DeMontfort University through their Revolving Internal Investment Fund (RIF). The article was submitted to a journal where the highest level of academic scrutiny of the methods and technological findings would be assured and was internationally double blind peer-reviewed by multiple reviewers.
