Shakespeare and war
Author contribution:
Originating in a popular, jointly organised, double seminar on Shakespeare and War (Shakespeare in Europe, Utrecht, 2003), the editors together selected papers that would form a coherent, international perspective, both on Shakespeare’s writing about war in its historical and cultural context, and on the ways the plays have been used for political ends in modern war and cold-war situations. Franssen suggested the non-alphabetisation of the editors’ names in the published volume to indicate that King had been largely responsible for drafting their joint chapter, and had worked extensively with individual contributors to help them shape and refine their arguments.
