Vecchio contributed to the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC) analysis software infrastructure that was used for this work, and also participated in the acquisition of the data that led to this paper. He contributed to the development and implementation of one of the analysis pipelines for the computation of the cross-correlation of the data from interferometer pairs to search for, and place upper-limits on (or detect) a gravitational-wave stochastic background, which is the detection technique used in this paper. Elements of this pipeline were used in studies and validation of the analysis results reported in this paper.
