Additional information

This paper presents a new scientific development in ultrasonic motor technology and how single piezoelectric Lead- Zirconate-Titanate electrode can be used to develop bidirectional motion. The research also introduced a new methodology of analysis using finite element to investigate the ultrasonic material microstructure, modes of vibrations, linking the two modes together, in order to change the direction of dipole polarisation and consequently develop a new mechanism to control the direction of motion. The developed actuator has the potential of implementation in various industrial applications.
