Additional information

A study of the aggregation of load across the continental USA, using two years of hourly load data for each of the 10 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regions, evaluated the costs and benefits of inter-connecting these regions. The results were obtained in collaboration with a PhD student at Stanford using very large data sets. The research was presented at meetings of the American Geophysical Union (San Francisco 2010, 2012) and used in support of a wider study by Jacobson to evaluate interconnection of renewable energy across the continental USA (jacobson@stanford.edu).
