Additional information

<13> Initiates a new approach to tackling extended target and group object tracking with Monte Carlo methods. Contributes two novel algorithms to address the complex problem of joint state and parameter estimation, and shows that these successfully deal with the complex target-observer geometry while offering trade-offs between accuracy and computational time. Constitutes a theoretical advance of great practical relevance (e.g., for tracking of convoys of vehicles, and groups of aircraft). Led to significant follow-on research (e.g., FP7 Marie Curie ITN IMPULSE). Published in IEEE TSP, the leading journal in signal processing (IF: 2.628).
