Significance of output:

Although 2-D systems where one of the independent variables (usually "time") plays a distinguished role have wide applicability, this important class of system has not received much attention. Here, we describe a constructive quadratic Lyapunov stability analysis of these systems. We show that linear matrix inequalities (LMI) can be used for computing such quadratic functionals, thus making the computation with standard LMI solvers achievable for realistic-size problems.
