<22> Recent years have seen a widespread growth of outsourcing to help improve finance and maintain competitiveness, accompanied by a growth of academic research. Most of the literature focuses on its social and cultural impacts, its organisational and management perspectives, and very few tools are developed to assist managers in making outsourcing decisions. Incorrect decisions can have devastating consequences for their business. This research helps decision makers in managing the complexity of outsourcing; a holistic approach to outsourcing has been developed to provide them with a set of ‘what-if’ scenarios, which are enacted by intelligent agents.
