Additional information

<05> Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) are used in many specialised applications, such as automation, security, transportation management, battlefields, environmental monitoring, hazardous conditions, etc. However, there is no unified standard for the critical aspects of the network, such as addressing schemes, topology control, routing mechanisms, etc.

This paper develops a realistic computer network simulation model based on real-world experiments using four laptops and four scenarios. It identifies the gaps between reality and the corresponding simulation and establishes guidelines on how to map real-world phenomena into simulations. This paper should help other researchers to produce more realistic results.
