Double-weighted statement

The research for this monograph involved the collection and analysis of a considerable volume and range of primary sources in the form of United States Government records about the Congo crisis. The US official archival record for relations with the Congo under the Kennedy Administration is more substantial than for any other area apart from Vietnam. As a result research for this volume spanned a period of five years. The work advances a complete thesis situated between the extensive literatures on both the Cold War and Decolonisation breaking new intellectual ground in the process.
