Building Co-operation: a business history of the Co-operative Group, 1863-2013

As sole author of 3 chapters, and making contributions to two others, my contribution to Building Co-operation was a third of the research and writing. The book is the first business history of the Co-operative Group for over fifty years, and uses a mass of previously unseen material from the Group’s archives, as well as interviews with senior officials active in the movement since the 1960s. As such it represents a highly original and important contribution to scholarship, and formed the basis of extensive impact oriented work with Co-operative group members and employees.
