Significance of output:
A fundamental model of binaural hearing is developed and applied to the evaluation of new audio systems. Fundamental properties of stereophonic imaging that are observed in subjective experiments are replicated by the model. The research was sponsored by Samsung Electronics and the Electronic and Telecommunications Research Institute of Korea (ETRI) and the results are used by Samsung and ETRI to evaluate the performance of new audio system designs (contact Dr. Youngtae Kim, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, yt65.kim@samsung.com and Dr. Kyeongok Kang, ETRI, kokang@etri.re.kr)
