Significance of output:

This work was inspired by the impacts of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans and its port infrastructure to better understand the present and future location of major port cities prone to such coastal disasters. It was funded by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development, Paris. The large growth in exposure has been used to argue for the need for improved city-level adaptation -- for instance in the OECD Environmental Outlook to 2050: The Consequences of Inaction (Contact: Kumi Kitamori, OECD: kumi.kitamori@oecd.org )
