Significance of output:

This paper is directed at developing new computational methods for aircraft noise prediction. Predicting radiated acoustic fields at moderate or high frequencies presents a major challenge for computation at moderate and high frequencies. This is the background to this study in which a novel approach is used to reduce problem size. The work was supported by Rolls-Royce plc and was undertaken in collaboration with researchers at the free Univ of Brussels (Mertens,Bouillard) in partnership with Free Field Technologies (FFT) the largest distributors of commercial CAA software to the aviation industry (contact: Jean-Pierre Coyette; technical director, FFT) .)
