Additional information

An original and novel formulation of the multi-scale framework, based on fundamental consideration of interaction between scales, that can finally “objectively represent softening phenomena” (Arch Comput Methods Eng (2011) 18:341–393) has led to further development of multi-scale strategies in the international community (Arch. Civ. Eng, 2012, LVIII, 3:331-361). This work has now been taken up not only in its core area of concrete mechanics, but also biomechanics (J Mech Beh Biomed Mat (2010) 3(2): 189-202) and geo-engineering (Int J Num & Analit Method Geomech (2012), 36 (2): 140-165).
