<26> We describe an augmented reality surgical navigation system (ARView) that provides surgical guidance for endoscopes and surgical microscopes. The system introduces the concept of augmented reality to surgical guidance to improve accuracy and safety and to reduce the duration of minimally invasive surgical procedures. Unlike other systems, our approach is independent of specialist hardware and hence is easy to customise.
