This article applies sociological theory to youth justice. In September 2011 I organised a one-day conference based on this work. This inter-disciplinary conference attracted a wide audience including researchers, policy makers, lawyers, psychologists, criminologists, educators, and professionals in many other allied disciplines who address the subject of childhood and youth. Papers from this conference were published in a special issue of Contemporary Social Science – Journal of the Academy of Social Sciences in June 2013, for which I was guest editor.
