Additional information

MicroMechanicalSystems for detecting volatile organic compounds can be developed, based on molecularly imprinted polymers. These polymers create the high affinity/specificity recognition element that can be integrated with a variety of sensor platforms. A custom designed fluorescent monomer is used here to enable detection of vapour molecules associated with explosives. The results have subsequently been used in further studies by other international groups.
