Additional information

A novel, generic control technique was developed to guide diffraction strain measurements on a single crystal turbine blade using combined neutron tomography and optical laser scanning data. This technique demonstrates how multiple sources of geometric information can be used to guide diffraction measurements. The technique will be used to guide new combined imaging and diffraction instruments such as the £10M IMAT instrument at the UK's ISIS neutron source, which will be the first of its kind.
