Additional information

A large part of Harris's research in Science and Religion in recent years has concerned ways to relate entirely new areas of physics to theology. Since he is well known in condensed-matter physics for his work in "frustrated magnetism", the editors of Nature invited him to comment and analyse an entirely new way of realising such frustrated magnets experimentally. This gave him the opportunity to reflect briefly on the state of the field in physics, a reflection which informed some of the theological material in his later monograph (The Nature of Creation).
