<15> Video streaming in bandwidth-constrained environments is a considerable research challenge and most solutions proposed target the network and transport layers. In contrast, the paper proposes, for the first time, a human-centred solution which uses eye-tracking to determine user regions of interest (RoIs) and proposes an effective cross-layer adaptive algorithm for multimedia streaming in which RoIs are played at higher quality levels than the surrounding background.
