Textile I & II and Curve with Steels - Three glass and steel sculptures
Watkinson’s practice-led research into surface pattern and the qualities of light and glass working together has required her to explore a range of different techniques including blending illustration and glass together and creating different surface pattern on glass through fusing and water-jet cutting.
The resulting 3 works are titled, ‘Textile I’, ‘Textile II’ and ‘Curve with Steels’. The works have been exhibited in three group exhibitions: ‘New Glass Art Pavilion’, New Town Central Park, Shanghai, was part of ‘ART Shanghai’, China (March 2013); ‘International Glass and Clay 2013’, The Pepco Edison Place Gallery, Washington, DC (1-23 March 2013) and 'Illuminations' New Glass and Ceramics, Bede’s World Gallery, South Tyneside (12 July – 31 August 2013).
