Double-weighted statement

The volume provides a detailed and comprehensive account of excavations directed by the author over several years on the Cittadella of Morgantina (Sicily), which revealed an unusually large Late Bronze Age longhouse, preserving a rich assemblage of archaeological material. The study permits the author to reassess the form, function and social context of houses in a part of Europe where burials have tended to dominate discussion and social reconstruction.

He also places evidence from surveys and other Sicilian sites in the wider context of later Italian prehistory in the period before and leading up to Greek colonisation.
