Additional information

This paper results from the 3rd sponsored PhD project in a series by Infineum, Emmanuel.laine@infineum.com (Voong 2003, Haque 2008, Kosarieh 2013). The study showed for the first time the standard changes in Diamond-Like-Carbon coatings that make them susceptible to high wear in Mo-contacting lubricants. The results were key to us being awarded the ENTICE Marie Curie programme on Tribochemistry (started 6/3/12, €3.3M, Grant agreement 290077) and the subsequent FUTURE-BET Marie Curie Programme. Keynote talk was delivered by Neville at the Gordon Conference in 2011 and at Leeds-Lyon Conference, Lyon in 2013. Neville awarded 2012 Donald Julius Groen prize for Tribology.
