Additional information

Winning the journal’s award for best paper 2010 and bringing together engineers, clinicians and paediatric physiotherapists, this paper describes how the novel techniques developed, elicited robust data from children with disabilities to inform the design of rehabilitation technology. Working in this challenging area, 37 non-disabled children and 15 children with cerebral palsy from 6 schools were involved in this study. The innovative process developed, generated important guidance for designing for children, subsequently used to design an award winning robot (GSDA finalist 2011 http://uk.ni.com/casestudies/winners) in an NIHR project (NIHR/NEAT-K005;£360k) and used in high-quality UKCRN portfolio clinical studies (UKCRN-ID:6303, 9600 and 11789).
