Additional information

This collaboration led to an invited plenary paper for Priest at the World Tribology Congress in Kyoto 2009 and 4 journal papers. The scientific outcome was increased efficiency of CVTs by increasing traction through lubricant formulation and reducing the clamping force and oil pressure demands. Narita (keiichi.narita@idemitsu.com) is from the oil company Idemitsu Kosan of Japan, seconded to Leeds for PhD study as part of the internationalisation agenda of the company. As a result he is now senior in the R&D division of the company and an Associate Editor of Tribology Online, the journal of the Japanese Society of Tribologists.
