Additional information

Paper describes development of damage from sharp notches in composites at level of detail not previously reported. New detail captures behaviour at larger structural level, rather than commonly-used material coupon scale. Work is result of international collaboration with University of British Columbia in Canada [contact: Prof. Vaziri]. Test results subsequently used in collaborations with TU Delft [contact: Prof. van der Meer] and US Air Force Research Laboratories [contact: Materials and Manufacturing Technology Directorate] and led to further publications (e.g. van der Meer et al., J. Comp. Matls., 46, 603-623, 2012).
