Additional information

Tuned-mass dampers are routinely used to suppress vibrations in structures such as high-rise buildings and bridges; however such dampers have narrow bandwidth. Non-linear tuned-mass dampers have potential for wider operational bandwidth and lower added mass. Paper shows strengths and weakness of such devices. Additionally, paper presents systematic approach for exploring higher-dimensional non-linear dynamic problems.
