<22>The significance of this paper is that it evolves innovative macros that are not present in any example plan. The high performance (placed 3rd out of 13 entrants) of the WIZARD system in the 6th International Planning Competition in 2008 is directly attributable to this technique demonstrating impact. This impact was deepened when WIZARD was incorporated directly by Gerevini’s group into their portfolio-based planning system (PbP) and was highly significant in the top ranking performance of their system in the learning track of the 7th International Planning Competition in 2011.
